The Amazing Skeletal System By Matt and Tyler

Introduction The Skeletal System is made up of bones in your body. It protects your organs, helps you move, and it gives you your shape. Without your skeleton you would be a blob on the floor.

How the Skeletal System Works The skeleton is amazing the way it protects your body. Did you know that your spine has 33 separate bones? It is shaped to protect your spinal cord. The skull protects the brain. The ribcage protects your vital organs such as your lungs, liver, heart, kidneys and stomach.

More About the Skeletal System Bones don’t simply work on their own, your bones are held together by strong stretchy bands called ligaments.

Caring for Your Skeletal System Your bones need calcium to be healthy. Calcium helps your bones get stronger and bigger. You can get calcium in dairy products such as milk, yogurt, and cheese. Even some juices have calcium added. Calcium is easy to get, you just buy dairy products in the store.

Cool Facts about Your Skeletal System Did you know that kids have more bones than adults do? Babies are born with 350 bones. Adults only have 206 bones. As you grow, your bones connect together to form one bigger bone. Most of bones in your body are in your hands and feet.

More Cool Facts about Your Skeletal System As your bones grow, you get taller then you were. Your growth in height is likely to stop by the time you are 16 if you’re a girl and 18 if you’re a boy.
