PRT Performance Response Team TF-NGN, October 18 th, 2002 Victor Reijs

ToR DRAFT aim: To provide a support structure for end-user to help solve performance issues when using applications over a computer network

Hierarchy Comparable with CERT Logical infrastructure Levels in hierarchical tree:  International (DANTE, Internet2, IO, manufacturers, user communities)  National (NREN’s)  Institute  USERS

Structure A human network Start with distribution list: Get people (users) who have experience with:  application  OS  equipment  network

Primarily work activity Allocation of problem to right level Track problem First voluntary, to get a better idea of issues

Area to concentrate Use small problem area:  GRID’s  IP Premium  problems (international ftp problems) Procedural- and Cook book Formalize PRT-organization in more detail It is iterative system (like CERT is) Find methods how to incorporate users

Next steps Who wants to join this PERT? CH, CZ, DANTE, DE, IE, IT, TERENA, UK Make a ToR Investigate if CERT-structure maps on PERT Close co-operation with Internet2 Relations with application providers and users (GRID’s, Microsoft, etc.) Work on E2E Performance cookbook and tools Invesitigate if it could be NoE in EC?
