Musical Instruments

The Piano and Keyboard The piano is one of the most popular musical instruments in the world. You play the piano by pressing the different keys which produce a sound. The keyboard is very similar to a piano. A keyboard is electronic, so it uses electricity. A keyboard also allows you to produce a variety of sounds by using the controls on it.

The Guitar The guitar is a stringed instrument that makes music from the vibrations of strings when they are strummed or plucked with your fingers or hands. Most guitars have 6 strings.

The Violin The violin is part of the string family. It has four strings. You play it by rubbing the bow over the strings, whilst placing your fingers on certain strings to produce different sounding notes.

The Viola The viola is also part of the string family. It makes a slightly lower sound than the violin. The viola also has four strings and is played the same way as a violin.

The Cello The Cello is another member of the string family. It is bigger than the violin and viola. Cello players sit down the play the cello resting the bottom of the cello, a metal spike, on the ground. It is played the same way as a violin and viola are played.
