Houses They Live In Main Features  Built on high platforms  To protect them from different types of insects and animals.  To use the empty space below to keep agricultural tools and looms.  Timber or bamboo posts support the platforms.  The walls are made of bamboo slates and the roof is the thatched.

Evaluation Answer the following questions. (a) Why do the Maghs build their houses on high platform? (b) How many tribes have been introduced in the passage? True or false. If false, give the correct answer. (a) The Maghs build their platforms merely to protect themselves from insects and animals. (b) For fermentation the shoots are kept into a pipe of bamboo.

Home Work Read the text again. Imagine you belong to the tribe of the Maghs. Now, write a paragraph in about 70 — 80 words stating your customs, creeds and ways of living etc.
