SI05 Slovenia Mojca Krisch, GOVERNMENT OFFICE FOR DEVELOPMENT AND EUROPEAN COHESION POLICY Overview of the programmes in PA27, Norway Grants

Programme includes two areas: Programme area 27 “Public Health Initiatives” and Programme area 28 “Mainstreaming Gender Equality and Promoting Work-Life Balance” The Objectives of the programme for both programme areas are: Improved public health, Reduced health inequalities, Gender equality, Work-life balance promoted. Supported activities

Programme is focused on reduction of inequalities between user groups, prevention and reduction of life-style related diseases and improving mental health services in the Republic of Slovenia. The eligible project applicant is any legal entity under public law or non-profit legal entity under private law, established in the Republic of Slovenia, or inter- governmental organization operating in the Republic of Slovenia. Project applicant could not be a profit- making legal entity under private law. Specific selection criteria

There was one public call published in December 2013 and closed in February application were received from which 19 were selected for financing. Selection procedure was long (majority of contracts with Project Promoters were signed in the summer 2015) due to three unsuccessfull public calls for evaluators. At the end evaluators were selecetd according to the Article 6.5, point 8. Selection procedure

One predefined project and 19 projects selected on Public call are running according to the plan. From 19 projects selected on Public call, 13 has DPP‘s. Most of the Project Promoters used the opportunity to prolong the duration of the projects. It is too early stage to talk about the results, but we‘re confident that the results presented in the applications will be achieved. Results

Improving and protecting health is also essential for social development and poverty reduction. For individuals and families health means the ability of personal development and economic security. At the same time, health is a precondition for the work activity and the basis for intellectual, emotional and physical development. Life expectancy and some other selected health indicators show that the health of the entire population in recent decades has improved, what ranks Slovenia among the developed countries, both in terms of achievements as well as challenges. We noticed that health is improving more among individuals with higher socio- economic status which means that health potential is dependent on socio-economic status. Factors such as education, employment, income, social security and social networks have an impact on lifestyles, risk factors, use of health and other services and, consequently, on morbidity, mortality and life expectancy.
