INTERPRETING BAR GRAPHS GRADE 3

Hello, How are you doing? Today, we are going to start a new lesson on Bar Graphs.

Bar Graphs Bar Graph – A Graph that shows data by using bars of different lengths. Example- The Bar Graph below shows the number of students who play different games.

Scale A scale is a set of numbers, spaced equally along a side of graph.

Model Bar Graph Step 1: Write the titles and the labels for the left and bottom side of the graph. Decide a Scale to use. Write the numbers on the left side. Label the activities along the bottom. Step 2:Draw bars for each activity to show the given number on left side.

Draw a bar graph for the following data. Favorite PetNumber of students Dog6 Cat5 Rabbit3 Bird2

Solution Steps to make Bar Graph Write a title for the graph. List the items along one side of the graph. Starting with0, write a scale with numbers along the other side of the graph. Draw a bar to match each of the numbers form the data.

Bar Graph

How many fewer students like Rabbit than Cat? Answer- 2

How many more students like Dog than bird? Answer- 4

How many students like Pet animals? Answer- 16

Refer to the Bar Graph and answer the Questions.

How many students attended the Annual Sports Meet in all? Answer- 56
