SHOBNALL PRIMARY SCHOOL PUMPKIN FACTOR 23 rd October 2014

What an exciting assembly we had when all of our classes entered ‘The Pumpkin Factor’. All of the pumpkins we used had been grown from seed and nurtured by Mrs Taylor and the gardening club. A group of Year 6 children helped our younger pupils lovingly tend to the pumpkins and when we left them for the Summer Holidays, our wonderful staff ensured that they got the nourishment and water they needed until it was time to harvest them. Mrs Taylor and the children couldn’t believe how big they had grown when we came back in the Autumn Term. The children at Shobnall Primary School always like a challenge and so we decided to hold a competition. Each class was given a number of pumpkins to decorate and the results were amazing. Mrs Taylor, our Chair of Governors, was asked to come and join us for this special assembly and to judge the pumpkins in all their glory. It was a very difficult decision for Mrs Taylor as every class had done such a fantastic job but, after much deliberation, it was Year 1 who turned out to be victorious. Well done to everyone in Year 1 for such truly wonderful creativity. However, it has to be said that each and every set of pumpkins from every class were all extremely well designed and it was a close call. Huge congratulations to you all – you certainly made Mrs Taylor’s job a difficult one!
