Light. Light is a electromagnetic radiation - a form of energy. Light travels in a straight line. The direction in which light is travelling is known.
The electromagnetic spectrum Light is one kind of electromagnetic energy. We can see nm (somewhat arbitrary cut-offs). Longer is infrared, shorter.
Color  You see an object as the wavelength  ( color) of visible light that it reflects  Sunflowers are yellow because it reflects (bounces off) mostly.

Unit 3 Final Test Study Guide –what you need to know to be successful for this test. The test is out of 50.

Study Guide Unit 3 natural light sources artificial light sources The camera and the eye : aperture, diaphragm, retina, iris, iris reflex(answer to last blank line in Q. 4) Colours in relation to spectrum, rods, cones, colour blindness, and complementary How light travels from its source(curved, straight, wavy...?) Two predictable behaviours of light-laws of reflection Plane mirror

Study Guide Unit 3 Wavelength Frequency Hertz Explain nearsighted and farsightedness, the shape of the eye for each, where the image falls in relation to the retina. Know that convex mirrors are used in security stores and why. Incandescent light bulbs = incoherent light/many frequencies, colours, & wavelengths( waves overlap and work against each other) Lasers = coherent light/one frequency and wavelength/waves line up and work together Know what type of waves and frequencies are emitted by both.

Know: When white light is refracted into different colours that the resulting pattern is called a spectrum. What is the sun’s spectrum called? What 2 body parts get damaged by the Sun? What happens? How can you protect them?
