Proclamation of 1763  King George III issued a royal decree (an official order) to announce that colonists could not settle west of the Appalachian Mountains  The boundary lines that separated the colonies and land west of the Mississippi was only meant for Native American settlement  Colonists were angered by the proclamation because it restricted them from moving west

II. Financial effects  British government sent more soldiers to protect the colonies after the war  The costs of the French and Indian war and sending more troops raised the debt of the government (money owed due to high spending)
