What is a Career?...the combined total of all events in our lives, including education, training, jobs, volunteering, family and leisure....‘like crazy paving and you have to lay it yourself’ – Sir Cadbury, Director of Cadbury...like a journey that you travel with destinations along the way...full of opportunities to do new things and learn!
Qualifications….. What’s the point? Make sure you don’t spend your life in a dead end job – without qualifications, it is hard to move on from a low-paid, low-skilled job Why? Because achieving a qualification shows an employer that you are organised, can focus and succeed when you put your mind to something. All qualities an employer wants. Qualifications can help you improve your earning power – there is a big pay gap between people with no qualifications those with lower level qualifications and those with higher level qualifications (university level). Why? The higher the qualification the more responsibility you have in a role.
Go Compare……. Consider these jobs. What are the benefits or challenges of each? Gas engineer Construction worker Surgeon Customer Service Advisor Pay? Qualifications needed? Working hours? Inside or outside? Career progression?
