 Historians study events, ideas, institutions, and individuals of the past. They may research and interpret events that occurred in the earliest periods of recorded time or ones that people can remember. Unlike archaeologists, who work chiefly with physical objects, historians rely mostly on written records for evidence to support their claims. However, historians sometimes use physical objects, such as photographs, costumes, and tools, to shed light on past lifestyles. Historians often try to relate knowledge of the past to present-day situations or problems.

 It is suggested that the education for a historian is a doctorate degree in history. You can obtain that degree from any major university.

 Geographers who are more inclined towards the natural sciences can involve themselves as environmental scientists in the study of physical and biological aspects of the environment, by studying such problems as erosion, desertification, nature conservation, landscape and terrain evaluation, environmental impact and resource ecology and management. Geographers who are more interested in people and the explanation of their activities and way of life, usually specialize in socio- economic aspects. Developmental issues including urbanization, with its associated problems like housing and general service provision, are priority topics presently of great importance in South Africa. These are addressed and analyzed by geographers.

 A degree in geography is the suggested qualifications for a job in the field of becoming a geographer. You can obtain a degree in geography at almost any 4 year university.
