THE EXCRETORY SYSTEM. Function Removes waste products from the blood Cells produce wastes which move out of the cells and into the blood by diffusion.
Excretory System Notes. Functions 1. Collect water and filter body fluids. 2. Remove and concentrate waste products from body fluids and return other.
Excretory System. Cellular Level  Involves transport of needed materials into and out of cells.
The Urinary System (Excretory System) Aim: How can we describe the functions of the Urinary System?
The Human Excretory System The function of the excretory system is to excrete (get rid of) wastes that are not helpful to the body.
 The removal of cellular wastes (liquids and gases)  It does NOT involve solid wastes.

Excretory System Notes Excretory System: collects and removes waste [ solids - rectum of Digestive System; liquids - kidneys of Urinary System; gases - lungs of Respiratory System ].

Excretory System Notes Excretory Organs: kidneys, lungs, skin, ureter, urinary bladder, urethra Kidneys: organ which removes liquid waste from the blood; a “filter”; humans have 2 kidneys Urea: breakdown of protein Liquid waste: urine (urea, water, other) Ureter: tube which connects from kidneys to urinary bladder. Urinary Bladder: saclike muscular organ which stores urine. Urethra: tube which connects urinary bladder to outside of body.

Excretory System Notes

Kidney: contain many nephrons; Each nephron filters the blood. By the process of osmosis (diffusion), urea and some water is removed but sugar and much of the water is returned to the blood (reabsorption). The urine is then stored in the urinary bladder for future removal from the body.

Uric Acid Crystals Urate = salts of Uric acid GOUT

Excretory System Notes

Gout : too high Uric acid levels in blood serum Kidney Stones bone erosion

Urinary Bladder Stones

Hemorrhoids
