Cutting the Space Program By: Aubree Orton

Money that is spent Focus on problems on Earth The risk of human life No major scientific breakthroughs have really been found Reasons For Cutting Space Exploration

Opponents of Cutting Space Exploration Dollars spent in NASA funding boosts the economy of every state in the nation. Exploring space is essential to National Security Could discover needed minerals Many common devices we use daily developed from the space program.

Money Spent Projected Funding for NASA’s Plans (Billions $) Category Total Human and Robotic Exploration Missions Human and Robotic Technology Crew Exploration Vehicle International Space Station Space Station Transport Space Shuttle Aeronautics and Other Science Total Source: Congressional Budget Office based on data from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

Reason #2- Focus on Problems on our PLANET Hunger Unemployment Natural Disasters Homelessness Disease and Sickness 271 Billion Could Go a Long Way to Fix These Problems!!

#3- Human lives are at risk Tragedies that occurred with accidents: Challenger and the Columbia shuttles… caused the deaths of 14 Americans! Challenger Disaster Live on CNN - YouTube

No Major Scientific Breakthroughs President Obama Recently Said: “Why do we need to go to the moon? We have been there. Buzz has been there.” He is speaking for many Americans who are concerned with the lack of innovation and discovery that the constellation program of NASA has delivered.

Conclusion It would be nice to have additional funds as a country to explore the planets beyond ours… But we don’t have it!!!

Not looking to END NASA Just Cut Space Exploration for NOW Because… Money that is spent Focus on Earthly matters The risk of human life No major scientific breakthroughs
