Opening Prayer

Acts 4: All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had. 33 With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all. 34 There were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales 35 and put it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need. 36 Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas (which means Son of Encouragement), 37 sold a field he owned and brought the money and put it at the apostles' feet.

Series: Bible Characters we must not forget Barnabas, a true encourager Acts 4:32-37 Text: Acts 4:32-37 Thesis: When you become an encourager like Barnabas, you are a valued asset to the kingdom of God.

Encourage = to call to ones side When did you last encourage someone else? Who did you encourage? How did you encourage them?

The heart of an encourager: Acts 4: Is a giver to the greater cause, Acts 4: Acts 9: Is inclusive of those who are on the outside looking in, Acts 9: Acts 11: Rejoices when God’s grace saves sinners, Acts 11: Acts 13 & 14 4.Is a partner in success, failure, in faith, Acts 13 & 14. Acts 15: Finds a way to lift the fainthearted, Acts 15:36-41.

The faith of Barnabas is not mentioned, it is illustrated. Verbal encouragement doesn’t go far enough. If you want to be an encourager, be there!
