Unit I Vocabulary

Barren 1) adj - not producing or incapable of producing offspring; sterile: a barren woman. 2. adj - unproductive; unfruitful: barren land. Synonym: childless/Antonym: fertile Character: Noun - one such feature or trait; characteristic. Adj. - representing a personality type, esp. by emphasizing distinctive traits, as language, mannerisms, physical makeup, etc. Synonym: personality/ Compost: Noun - a mixture of various decaying organic substances, as dead leaves or manure, used for fertilizing soil Illuminate Verb: to supply or brighten with light; light up. Synonym: clarity Meddle Verb - to involve oneself in a matter without right or invitation; interfere officiously and unwantedly:! Synonym: infringe

Narcissist Noun - inordinate fascination with oneself; excessive self-love; vanity. Synonym: smugness Odious Adj. - deserving or causing hatred; hateful; detestable.
