Write an argument that argues whether or not breaking the law is ever justified. Take your side! DO NOT BE "WISHY-WASHY" Then call in the "T.O.W." truck to help you... T: topic O: opinion W: why T: breaking the law ever justified O: yes (or no---YOUR opinion) W: because...(what is the "why?") At yer service ! Now you can construct your thesis!

Depending on which side of the issue you feel you can BEST defend, construct your thesis following your TOW truck... Breaking the law can be justified if a life is in danger. OR maybe... Breaking the law is never justified because laws are meant to protect the common good of society. (These are just two examples...using two different "why" ideas)

Once you have your thesis, you should be good to go... Introduction --attention grabber --thesis Body paragraph 1 --reason (as stated in the thesis) --example to illustrate your reason (not a hypothetical) --why this reason is important Counterargument --why might others disagree? --why are they wrong? --how might this further your thesis? Conclusion --restate thesis --what should the reader do/think about this topic? use a character/situation in a story/novel example form current events example from own experience

$ "Attention Grabber" Bank $ $ reference to a relevant character/story line from a novel (this can be tied into the example you will later provide in your body paragraph 1 AND referred back to in your conclusion) $ reference to a relevant current event $ relevant anecdote $ relevant quote $ a profound, thought provoking question

Create your outline! Introduction AG: Thesis: BP1 what is it? what does it look like? why is it important? Counterargument why might others disagree with your argument? why are they wrong? how does this further prove your point? Conclusion restate thesis what should the reader do/think about this topic? Don't ferget to call on me to help ya build yer thesis! Write an argument that argues whether or not breaking the law is ever justified.
