Terrific To-do list for Triumph I. In the Church Body A. Elders: Shepherd God’s flock rightly (5:1-4) B. Younger people: Be subject to the elders (5:5a) C. All: be humble toward each other (5:5-6)

Terrific To-do list for Triumph II. In each member personally A. Cast all anxieties on Him (5:7) B. Be alert and resist the enemy (5:8-9) C. Count on a rock-solid promise (5:10)

Terrific To-do list for Triumph III. In Public A. Reminder of Peter’s motives B. Reaction of believers

In the Church Body A. Elders: Shepherd God’s flock rightly (5:1-4) 1. not because you must….... but because you are willing 2. not eager for money… … but eager to serve 3. not domineering… … but as an example

In the Church Body B. Younger people: Be subject to the elders (5:5a) 1.” Younger” in years as well as in the Christian faith. 2. “young” in training for a deacon position

In the Church Body C. All: be humble toward each other (5:5-6) 1.toward each other 2. toward God

In Each Member Personally A. Cast all anxieties on Him (5:7) 1. “Throw what pulls you apart” unto God 2..“Because God cares” (Mathew 6:25-34, Luke 12:22-31)

In Each Member Personally B. Be alert and resist the enemy (5:8-9) 1. Exemplary “Resisting”: A. In spite of physical suffering, Jesus did not doubt God’s care for Him. We live by God’s Word (Matthew 4:1-4) B. In spite of temptation to test God, Jesus did not wrongly apply biblical promise (Matthew 4:5-8) C. In spite of His longing, Jesus did not trade eternal glory for a cheap imitation of “glory”

In Each Member Personally C. Count on a rock-solid promise (5:10) 1. God will… … restore you … make you strong … make you firm … make you steadfast … so that you can stand and resist

In Public A. A reminder of Peter’s motives 1. Peter writes to encourage the believers 2. Testify that this (message) is the true grace of God.

In Public B. Reaction of Believers 1. Send greetings cross culturally, geographically 2. Show pure affection for one another
