Peer Relationships

Types of Peer Relationships Friendships: significant relationship between two people based on caring, respect, consideration, and trust. Casual Friends: peers whom you feel socially connected with. Close Friendships: Friends that share thoughts, feelings, and emotions.

Types of Peer Relationships Platonic Friendships: a relationship with a member of the opposite sex in which there is affection but no sexual activity. Cliques: groups of friends with similar backgrounds and tastes. Dating Relationships: Dating is an ongoing relationship between two people.

Peer Pressure Peer pressure is the control and influence people your age may have over you. The way you respond to peer pressure can have a great impact on the decisions you make and your total health.

Positive Peer Pressure Role Model: A person who exhibits positive peer pressure and is a positive influence to those around them. Positive peer pressure can not only set examples of what to do but also examples of what not to do.

Negative Peer Pressure Peer pressure that causes others to accept beliefs or take part in a behavior that has negative consequences. Manipulation: sneaky or dishonest way to control or influence others.
