Rainforest Poem!!! The rain droplets danced and whirled pranced and twirled as they flashed down to the ground. They fluttered and strutted and sent the big leaves spinning round, The Jaguars pranced, The frogs lashed out their long tongues, While the amazing colourful toucans let out their powerful songs, At the end of the day all the animals still and waiting, The owl was always cautious alert and hesitating, As now it was his time, to show off it’s super talent, Of his cruel but wonderful crime.

Jaguars!!! Food Jaguars are predators so they catch prey. While Leopards rely on their speed to catch prey, jaguars slowly and silently follow their prey around and when it’s the right time they pounce! Family Female jaguars will have1 to 4 babies at a time. The babies are blind and helpless at birth so mums will stay and defend their children fiercely from any predators including their own father. Things jaguars can do Jaguars are excellent swimmers, they’re also very good at climbing which makes it easy to get to their prey. Sometimes they will even go to sleep in a tree.

Food! Hyacinth macaws are actually parrots and they love to eat berries, all types of fruits and especially grasshoppers, they find them on leaves off of the floor. What they look like Macaws come in all different colours with the most common one being blue. They are 11.5cm tall to 35cm. Their wing span will get up to 4foot and they weigh from 12grams to 1,650. They are the biggest of all parrots. Habitat They live in the emergent layer of the rainforest and they fly around from the emergent layer all the way to the forest floor.

Poison dart frogs!!! Food They eat insects and spiders on the forest floor and normally catch them with their very long tongue. They also eat beetles. Family These frogs lay eggs on leaves covered in slimy gel to keep them fresh. When they hatch the parents give them a piggy back to the nearest pool of water so they can swim. Interesting Information! Poison dart frogs are so venomous that they can kill up to ten grown men at a time There average lifespan is up to 15 years and they are about 2.5 cm which is about as big as a paperclip!
