Prewriting Katrina Abdur-Rahman GPS: ELA2W1 The student demonstrates competency in the writing process. The student will -h. Pre-writes to generate ideas orally. PLO: Students will brainstorm and list ideas related to their 5 senses.

Drafting Ashley Stephens GPS: ELA1W1 The student begins to demonstrate competency in the writing process. – A. writes text of a length appropriate to address a topic and tell the story. PLO: Students will create a poem that is related to their five senses (at least 5 sentences long).

What is 5 senses poetry? Using our …to create a poem with at least 5 lines or more to describe a specific topic.

Prewriting Stage Organizing thoughts… – Let’s brainstorm by answering these questions. What do I see? What do I hear? What do I feel? What do I taste? What do I smell?

Pre-writing Practice Activity Students will think about their five senses. Then students will think about the lunchroom. Finally, as a class on the board we will create a list of words that pertain to each of our 5 senses and the lunchroom.

Pre-writing Assessment Activity Students will think about their 5 senses by completing the worksheet. 1 st choose a topic 2 nd match the words with the appropriate picture. 3 rd list 3 words referencing each sense related to the chosen topic.

Drafting Stage Using the pre-writing graphic organizer to develop sentences explaining ideas and emotions using their 5 senses.

Drafting Practice Activity Using our classroom list of words created during the pre-writing activity as a class we will create a 5 line senses poem in reference to the lunchroom.

Drafting Assessment Activity Students will use their individual pre-writing graphic organizer to begin writing a five senses poem about their chosen topic. Students will complete a 5 line poem.
