8-11 October, 2004The Fourth CEENET Workshop - MIXREN, Chisinau 6 Structure of PoP

8-11 October, 2004The Fourth CEENET Workshop - MIXREN, Chisinau 7 Overview of the SILK IPv6 network architecture

8-11 October, 2004The Fourth CEENET Workshop - MIXREN, Chisinau 8 IPv6(1) On the DVB-S forward link a new carrier (blue satellite connection) has been set up for transmitting the native IPv6 data. This carrier is fed on the hub site by a new IPv6 DVB-S encapsulator. Every SILK partner participating within the IPv6 trials has to set up a new IPv6 DVB-S receiver, which receives the native IPv6 data on the new carrier. On the return link IPv4 and IPv6 are sent in parallel via the already existing SCPC link. The hub site is connected to the European research network GEANT, which is already IPv6 capable. Automatically, being connected to GEANT mean being connected to the 6NET network.

8-11 October, 2004The Fourth CEENET Workshop - MIXREN, Chisinau 9 IPv6(2) One IPv6 DVB-S receiver (Linux PC with DVB-S card), which will receive the IPv6 data sent on the newly established DVB-S carrier. The Ethernet interface of this IPv6 DVB-S receiver will be connected via the Silk Cisco Catalyst switch to the Cisco router on each SILK partner site. One IPv6 test LAN. This IPv6 test LAN can be connected via the Silk Cisco Catalyst switch to the Cisco router on each SILK partner site. For this purpose the same physical Cisco router interface can be used as already used for IPv4 traffic, but added to a different VLAN on the Cisco switch. At least one IPv6 test host connected to the IPv6 test LAN

8-11 October, 2004The Fourth CEENET Workshop - MIXREN, Chisinau 10 Thank you !
