Goal 9. Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation Develop quality, reliable, sustainable and resilient infrastructure, including regional and trans-border infrastructure, to support economic development and human well-being, with a focus on affordable and equitable access for all By 2030 upgrade infrastructure and retrofit industries to make them sustainable, with increased resource use efficiency and greater adoption of clean and environmentally sound technologies and industrial processes, all countries taking action in accordance with their respective capabilities Significantly increase access to ICT and strive to provide universal and affordable access to internet in LDCs by 2020

ITU-T Study Group 20 (SG20)  Responsible for international standards to enable the coordinated development of IoT technologies, including machine- to-machine communications and ubiquitous sensor networks.  Address the standardization requirements of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, with an initial focus on IoT applications in smart cities and communities (SC&C).  Development of standards that leverage IoT technologies to address urban-development challenges.
