The Peninsula of Greece and its many Islands

 Peninsula of Peninsulas:  Iberian, (Portugal & Spain)  Italian (Italy + Islands)  Balkan (Greece and its islands)  So. Europe is rugged terrain  All lands borders the Mediterranean Seas  Flat plains (agriculture)

 Romans and the Turks fight over Greece ‘s territory. Eventually Turks win, which are Muslim but allow the Greeks to keep their religion which was the Orthodox Church which is a Christian religion.  Develop theater, Philosophy (thinkers) and Democracy.. believed in learning all they could in math, history, literature.

 Church ( Christian)  Foods: lamb, cheese, olives, vegetables (native)  Yogurt, honey from cultural borrowing  Lang: Greek  FAMILY is most important  Church: Orthodox

 Had a big loan from International Money fund and European Union in 2012  1 st Industry: Shipping one of the largest ship fleets in the world for exports.  2) Tourism and this provides most of the country’s income.

 3/5 people live in cities  Capital---Athens, Greece  1/3 people live in or around Athens  Democracy is practiced here.  Democracy means… the people rule and choose decisions that are good for the public. 
