Be sure to wear appropriate clothing for the weather as we will have recess outside during preschool. No midriffs are to be displayed No spaghetti straps Jewelry will be limited to and tasteful. No clothing that displays inappropriate or unprofessional messages. PLEASE NOTE: No skirts/dresses that are form fitting and shorter than half way to the knees – without having to adjust on a regular basis.

Conversations Never discuss a child’s behavior in front of him/her. Never make comparisons between one child and the next. Avoid conversations with other students when you are teaching. Students will be supportive of the lead teacher in their conversations with the children. Never discuss any personal information about preschool children outside of the classroom. In Tide-E-Tots, we practice confidentiality. Any behavioral information discussed with parents must come from the lead teacher.

Supervision In case of a fall or possible injury, tell the lead teacher immediately. Make sure every child has constant supervision. Pay special attention to children playing in a climbing apparatus and make sure you are physically close to the apparatus to prevent emergencies. Encourage children to speak. Ask simple, open-ended questions. Smile. Encourage creativity. Stay in the station/duty you are assigned. At least two students should accompany children to the bathroom. The students should remain outside the bathroom and only one child should be in the bathroom at a time. The door should remain ajar in case the child needs help and to prevent a child from locking him/herself into the bathroom.

List 5 goals you will actively work to accomplish in Tide-E-Tots this year. You will be asked to account for your progress on these goals at the end of the semester

The consequences of inappropriate behavior and not complying with the above rules may result in any of the following: Verbal warning and/or possible parent contact Referral and/or counselor notification Evaluation of suitability for class Removal from class
