About Ground Screws One of the time consuming activity with ground-mounted PV systems is the labour-intensiveness of their installation. Preparatory ground excavation and construction of concrete piles is often necessary, as the panels need to be stable enough to withstand storm-force winds. Ground-screws are one viable alternative to these concrete based mounting systems, offering comparable sturdiness at potentially reduced cost.

Why Ground Screws ? Ground screws eliminate the need for concrete and allow foundations to be set within minutes, not days. Up to 120 ground screws can be set in one day with the proper installation equipment and experienced installers. This time savings can easily be equated into additional money that is not spent on field installation hours allowing system turn on much earlier than traditionally possible.

Additional Advantages Screws can be easily adjusted to less severe gradients, so mounting-frames are installed at level. Hence less complicated earthwork and engineering involved as compared to cement slabs A case study in the next illustrates savings in numbers.
