 Constitution & Bylaws Review ◦ Almost done reviewing and revising ◦ Will be sent to CCL ◦ Most changes do not need to be voted on by membership  Open enrollment all year  Clover (5-8 year olds) participation ◦ Clover project highly recommended in each club ◦ Project leaders can choose to allow Clovers in their projects if they offer age-appropriate activities ◦ Prohibited projects: large animal and shooting sports

 Adult supervision ◦ Adults should never be one-on-one with youth ◦ Two adults required at all 4-H activities, at least one must be a registered volunteer ◦ Adults may drive youth, but there must be at least three people in the vehicle  No romantic relationships between volunteers and youth members

 Each Club should have one, or work with a neighboring club  Thrive curriculum still recommended, but no longer required  Youth who must enroll: ◦ Officers ◦ Junior & Teen Leaders ◦ Camp Junior Counselors

 Hats White hat is being phased out, this is last year they will be sold. Senior members may continue wearing white hats until they age out. New green hats with the University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources logo. Youth with the old green hat may continue wearing them until they age out. Goal is to transition to new green hat by  Scarf/Tie No changes  Upper Body Any collared white shirt  Lower Body Members have choice of bottoms as long as they are appropriate to the activity.  Remember that fairs/shows may still require white bottoms in ring

 What: Very simply, it’s about responsible dog owners and well-mannered dogs. The AKC’s Canine Good Citizen program is recognized as the gold standard for dog behavior.  Who: Paula Bassett, Owner and Founder of Cadence Therapeutics with over a 30 year span of experience with both canine and equine. ◦ Professional Dog Trainer ◦ Certified Canine Training and Behavior Specialist ◦ American Kennel Club S.T.A.R. Puppy Instructor ◦ AKC Canine Good Citizen Registered Evaluator  When: Every Saturday between Oct. 3 and Nov. 21 from 10:00-11:00am

 What is the end goal? The Canine Good Citizen evaluation/test consists of ten objectives. All items must be completed satisfactorily or the dog handler team does not pass.  10 Test items include: 1.Accepting a friendly stranger. 2.Sitting politely for petting. 3.Allowing basic grooming procedures. 4.Walking on a loose lead. 5.Walking through a crowd. 6.Sitting and lying down on command and staying in place. 7.Coming when called. 8.Reacting appropriately to another dog. 9.Reacting appropriately to distractions. 10.Calmly enduring supervised separation from the owner.  If all ten objectives are met, the handler can then apply for a certificate and special dog tag if they wish from the AKC stating that the dog has earned the CGC.  CGC is usually a pre-requisite for becoming a therapy dog.
