Overview Choosing a designer Preconceived notions Communicating with your designer Specific features Research your needs Clarity Audience

Overview Continued Have reasons Designing by committee Remember who’s the expert Nothing’s Perfect Trust

Choosing a Designer Signature designs aren’t always best Does your designer have an award? Ask their Clients

Preconceived Notions Leave them at the door! Share your ideas, you might decide you like something else better.

Communicating with your Designer Don’t ask for a color or shape Ask for an emotion you want your client to get.

Specific Features Make sure these are known from the beginning Think about how they’ll fit

Research your needs The more details you provide the better Be upfront

Clarity The more content you have complete, the easier it is for the designer. Designers may revise your content.

Audience Be specific to your designer who your audience is. The design is for your customers, not for you.

Have Reasons Show the designer sites that appeal to you. Tell the designer how they make you feel.

Designing by Committee Share with only a few trusted friends Only one person should make decisions

Nothing’s Perfect If too many people feel your site is okay, then it’s dull If you design a site with no personality no one will love it.

Trust Trust your designer, they are experts Designers can be wrong, but you should tell them what you want. Not how to do it.

Conclusion Don’t decide you know what’s best Don’t come in with no ideas at all. Questions
