How Can I Be a Good Citizen? by Thai Williams

How Can I Be a Good Citizen?

There are several ways you can be a good citizen.

You can share with others. This is a good citizen.

North Carolina has many food banks. You can take food to the food bank to share with people who do not have food to eat. This is a good citizen.

You can demonstrate responsibility. Responsibility is taking care of yourself and others. This is a good citizen.

When North Carolina is in a drought, your family can collect rain water in barrels to use on your flowers/vegetables. This shows responsibility. This is a good citizen.

You can work with others to help the community. You could get money for a hospital or collect food for a family This is a good citizen.

North Carolina has many community gardens. These gardens were planted by people in a community. This is a good citizen.

You can take care of the world around you. This is a good citizen.

You can pick up trash along the beaches of North Carolina. This keeps our rivers, streams, and oceans clean. This is a good citizen.

You can be a good friend and neighbor. You could help a friend with homework or help carry your neighbors groceries. This is a good citizen.

After a hurricane, neighbors on the coast of North Carolina work together to clean up the mess and rebuild their homes. This is a good citizen.

You can treat others with respect. This is a good citizen.

Everyone is different. When you are ok with people not being like you, this is respect. This is a good citizen.

There are many ways for you to show good citizenship. Whether it's visiting children in the hospital,

building a house with Habitat for Humanity,

mowing a neighbor's grass,

or helping a friend.

You can be a good citizen.

What type of citizen should you want to be?

How can you be a good citizen?

What are citizens a part of?
