Project Need Guatemala recovers from a 36 year Civil War Quiche Indians in Guatemala greatly discriminated against Over half the country is below the poverty line

Project Description Educate Aggies about the problems faced in Guatemala Collect school supplies for over 500 children in a subset of rural Guatemala Items will be donated this summer during a mission trip

Project Implementation Created Brochures, posters, Powerpoints Delivered short talks and passed out brochures to interested organizations and people Left 2 weeks to pick up supplies Asked Spanish classes to write encouraging letters to teachers

Project Problems Lack of support Through donations Many avenues were “dead ends” Lack of room to store items Keeping in contact with numerous groups

Overcoming Challenges Broadened Original Scope Began to ask friends and own classrooms Went to stores asking for monetary donations Store item in apartments until drop-off time Expanding our network to Reach more people
