Levels of Organization Project Honors Biology

Description of Project Format: book (layered or regular) Titles required: Project must be titled on cover Each page/level must have a title Name and class period present

Review of Ecological Levels Organism Population Community Ecosystem Biome (the one that is assigned) Biosphere **Use Chapter for reference

Layout of Book – Level Pages One page for each ecological level –Organism (must have one plant and one animal from biome) –Population (must have one plant population and one animal population different from organism level from biome) –Community –Ecosystem (biotic and abiotic components of biome) –Biome (description and facts about your biome) –Biosphere (definition and description)

Layout of Book – Community Interactions Pages To be placed after biome and before biosphere One can be an example of predator-prey within your biome The second page must be a symbiotic relationship that occurs in your biome. Make sure organisms are labeled and that the interaction is described and defended as it is classified.

Grading of Project 1.Organization/Neat: 1 point 2.All titles present – book and each page: 2 points 3.Content of organism, population, community, ecosystem levels –Definition of level - 1 point –Pictures/drawings with labels & descriptions – 2 points –Labels of biotic and abiotic – 1 point 4.Content of Biome –Definition – 1 point –Pictures/drawings with labels & descriptions – 2 points –Geographic location & Climate - 2 points 5.Content of Biosphere Level –Definition and picture/drawing – 2 points 6.Interactions Pages –Picture/Drawing – 1 point –Labels and description of interaction – 2 points 7.Citations Present on each page – 2 points 8.Color/Creative: at least 3 used – 1 point
