Field goal When the ball enters the basket. Worth two points.

3 pointer A fieldgoal made behind the 3 point line. Worth 3 points.

Freethrow An unguarded shot taken from the freethrow line. Worth one point.

Assist/ Dime The last pass to a teammate that leads directly to a field goal

Rebound When a player grabs a ball that is coming off the rim or backboard.

Fast Break A quickly made field goal where players sprint toward the basket. Usually happens within 5 seconds.

Inbound The act of bringing the ball into the inbound area by means of a throw-in.

Box Out A player's attempt to position his body between his opponents and the basket to get a rebound.

Foul Actions by players which break the rules but are not floor violations. – Hitting a players arm while they’re in the act of shooting the ball.

Positions Point Guard (PG): Shooting Guard (SG): Small Forward (SF): Power Forward (PF): Center (C):

1. Point Guard (PG) Responsible for setting up the offense and creating plays for other players. Strengths: Dribbling, Assists, and leadership. Typically the smallest and smartest player on the court. Example: Chris Paul

2. Shooting Guard (SG) Primarily responsible for scoring and playing good defense. Strengths: Shooting, Defense, scoring Typically the most athletic player on the basketball court. Example: Kobe Bryant

3. Small Forward (SF) Responsible for playing great defense. Good all around player. Average sized player with great athleticism. Example: Lebron James

4. Power Forward (PF) Responsible playing good defense and rebounding the ball. Strengths: defense, blocks, rebounds, low post scoring. Example: Tim Duncan

5. Center (C) Typically responsible for protecting the basketball from making layups or dunks. Strengths: Low post scoring. Defense. Rebounds. Example: Dwight Howard.

Rules of the Game: Streetball 3 on 3 Scoring Expectations Rules Boundaries After the game

Scoring “Game is to 11”: First team to score 11 points wins. Normal field goals are worth 1 pt. Shots behind the 3 point arch are worth 2pts. “Win by 2”: Winning team has to win by 2 pts to be victorious.

Fouls All players call their own fouls. Foul calls will be respected by the opponents. “Shoot for it”: Any conflicts will be resolved by having 1 player shoot for possession of the basketball from the 3 pt line (do or die).

Rules “Winners Ball”: The scoring team gets to inbound the ball after each made field goal. “Shoot for takeout”: One player shoots for possession of the ball (Do or Die). “Check up”: A courtesy pass made to the opponent that is made before inbounding the basketball.

Boundaries Half court game Out of bounds: Baseline, Sidelines, and top of the backboard. (no backcourt violation) “take it out up top” Inbound the ball at the halfcourt line after each made basketball or out of bounds call. “Clear it”: Clear the 3pt line on every new position.

After the Game Winners stay on: Winners of game get to play again. Hi-5 each player on the opposite team. “I got next” or “I got next next” which means I will play in the next game or in the next 2 games.

Rules of the Game: NBA Fullcourt Basketball Scoring Expectations Rules Boundaries After the game

Scoring Each field goal is worth 2 points. Field goals made behind the 3 point arch are worth 3 pts. Freethrows are worth 1 point each. The team with the most points at the end of the regulation (4 quarters) is the winner. Overtime occurs if both teams are tied after 4 quarters. 5 minutes in length.

Rules There are a total of 12 players on a roster. Each period is 12 minutes long. 5 players are allowed to play at one time. The game begins with a jump ball to establish possession

Rules continued… Traveling: Moving without dribbling the ball. 3 second violation: When an offensive player stays in the KEY for 3 seconds. Shot clock violation: The offensive team has 24 seconds to shoot the basketball. 8 second violation: The offense has to advance the ball to halfcourt within 8 seconds.

Fouls Foul: When a defensive player makes illegal contact with the offensive player. Offensive Foul: A foul committed by an offensive player. Technical/Flagrant Foul: Highly aggressive foul which results in a freethrow and possession of the ball.

Fouls continued… Loose ball foul: A foul committed when neither team has control of the ball. Shooting foul: A foul committed while the offensive player is in the act of shooting. 5 fouls are allowed for each player. After the 5 th foul, players are ejected from the game.
