BUILDING #1

CULTURAL CENTER! 27 Broadway Built in 1938 Home of the North Haven Historical Society and Studio 27 Former home of the North Haven Public Library

BUILDING #2

FRANK L. STILES HOUSE Built in 1870 This house was provided with the first known electrical residential service in North Haven, supplied by a steam generating plant from Stiles’ brick plant. The direct current fuse box contained in a lock and key unit in the second floor hallway may still be seen.

BUILDING #3

MERRITT JULIUS CLINTON HOUSE Built in 1853 The interior of this home includes an open beamed great room, wide chestnut flooring, and a curved mahogany stairway.

P. DAYTON HOUSE Built in 1810 One of earliest brick houses in North Haven. A fine but simple 19 th century home in the Federal Style.

BUILDING #5

JOSEPH PIERPONT STORE Built in 1845 The Pierpont Store was the second oldest business of this type in North Haven. It closed in 1942 during WWII due to lack of help. The account books from the Pierpont Store are housed in the Yale University Library.

H. BRADLEY HOUSE Built 1840 – 1850 This house has original woodwork and doors in much of the house.

LYMAN BASSETT HOUSE Built in 1860 This house suggests the social and economic importance that the Clintonville area had achieved by the 1860’s. The house was reportedly owned by “Miss Connecticut” during the 1920’s.

BUILDING #8

RISING SUN TAVERN Built in 1738 This home was enrolled on the National Register of Historic Places 30 years ago. It is located midway between New Haven and Middletown and thus was a resting stop for stagecoaches traveling the inland route to Boston in the 18 th and 19 th centuries.

FORMERLY THE FIRE HOUSE Built in 1932 This building has been used as a retail space and as an office building.

DISTRICT #1 SCHOOLHOUSE Built in 1909 This schoolhouse is now a private residence.
