Questioning Types When it comes to interviews there are two questioning types, open, and closed. Open: These types of questions include things such “who?” “why?” “where?” These give the interviewee a chance to expand on their questions and explain their answers. You can use multiple of them together to get a more lengthy, and detailed answer from their interviewee. Closed: These types of questions tend to have a “yes or no” or a number response to them, they’re questions like “did you have a nice day?” or “how many cakes did you eat”

Comparison KERRANG magazine tends to be more of a laid back magazine, with writing that’s used for entertainment purposes mostly, within each magazine there are more informative pieces, such as concert reviews, and the serious interview they sometimes have with band members. This is probably due to the magazines audience which is for teenagers from the ages of about 14-19, where as the independent, has more of an older, mature audience, so the interviews include a lot more writing and more formal language is used by the writers. The independent example I got did not include any of the questions that were actually asked to the interviewee, where as in the KERRANG magazine example I got, it included all the questions in bold red writing. This usually isn’t the case, but for the specific interview I chose it was.
