Random Corrections Make sure you display the novel title, author, and character name on your poster. When writing the title of your novel in a caption, it should be in italics not quotation marks.

Hand Caption Identify one thing the character does, makes, or accomplishes during the course of the novel. What does this accomplishment show us about the character’s personality traits? Do you explain the action/ accomplishment? Do you explain what this reveals about the character’s personality?

Foot Caption Identify one place that is significant or special in this character’s life. Describe this setting and explain why it is special to the character. Do you describe the setting? Do you explain why it is special to the character?

Mouth Caption Quote one significant line directly from the book, something that the character says/writes/thinks. Then explain what this shows us about the character’s personality. Is the quote formatted correctly? Ex- “That’s right, Fatso. And the next word out of anybody and I’ll be their mother too” (Bambara 106). Do you explain what this shows about the character’s personality?

Remaining Captions Heart: Do you explain the change of heart/ new insight and its significance? Heart: Do you describe the romantic interest and how it affects your character? Eyes: Do you explain how the character views the event or person and what it reveals about him/her? Play the psychologist! Stomach: Do you identify what upset or excited this character and what it reveals about them? Biceps: Do you explain the type of strength the character displayed and how it helped them succeed. Knees: Do you describe what or who this character worships or respects and how this impacts him/her.
