Introduction to public health surveillance One picture describe more than 1,000,000 word

Definition Public heath surveillance is the ongoing systematic collection, analysis, and interpretation of outcome –specific data essential to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of public health practice, closely integrated with the timely dissemination of these data to those who need to know. out come may include disease, injury, and disability, as well as risk factors, vectors, vector exposures, environmental hazards, or other exposures. The final link of the surveillance chain is the application these data to prevent and control human disease and injury.

The main purpose of Surveillance - Knowledge of the distribution of health events - Rapid detection of outbreak - Public health planning and evaluation

2. Surveillance System: how to work - Collection - Collation - Information synthesis - Dissemination 3. Source of information

# Organization of surveillance System Village Health Volunteer # Important CD Disease Notification within 24 hours # Weakness No action No mandate No function No motivation

Surveillance and Rapid Response Team (SRRT) Network is very important Hospital Lab Pathologists SRRT Veterinarian

Conclusion - Surveillance to safe guard the people - Start with priority disease reporting - Timeliness is most crucial - Detection of outbreak - Investigation to know the cause
