$7, grants awarded to 6 libraries to establish Job Centers in their library. Purpose of Grant: To provide a special collection of print and non-print materials and professional services designed to teach new skills to displaced workers, to provide information about career choices, and to offer resume writing and job application assistance. To provide at least one computer and appropriate software dedicated to the project.

Collaborate with other agencies (Adult Education and/or Career Centers) Offer a minimum of eight 2-hour classes related to skill-building or job search. Information about the Tennessee Electronic Library Survey participants and gather anecdotal information.

3 computer classes with total 8 attendees 2 Excel classes with total of 4 3 Job Training Classes with total of 13. Up to 90 job searches on computer per month

21% of Giles County Adults have a 9th-12th grade education. 17% have less than a 9th grade education. Closest GED classes were 19 or 28 miles away. Partnered with Adult Education Center to teach GED classes and hold pre-tests and tests. Hired part-time retired teacher to do additional tutoring

39 people passed the GED through this program 13 passed portions of the GED 14 half way to completing 42% of the people who signed up for the program completed it. Grant activities will continue.
