Presentation transcript:

In valeo, we use 2D mesh, dual Domain mesh for moldflow simulation. I need the mesh very fit the geometry, and can reflect the part thickness distribution. So for simplification, we just can move some small fillet, logo, steps……(0.3<normal <0.5), and the fillets we keep, some need several rows to reflect the thickness accurately, and some just one is OK, depend on the dimension, and on the part margin area, if the fillet is not very big, one row element is OK. so for how many rows element on the fillet is depended. For element number big part <250000, middle < , other <

Normally, for big part if we want to control the number of element, we need to small size for fillet and big size for other face. Small size to big size, we need the mesh have a good gradient.

Small to big

Mesh criterion:  Use fusion mesh to generate 3D mesh in MOLDFLOW. So need to control the fusion mesh quality and mesh gradient to sure the 3D have a good quality. Proposal Mesh criterion Fusion Mesh criterion Number of Triangles elements Big < middle< small< Aspect Ratio <9 Proposal Element size 4/2 3/1 2.5/1 2/1 Interference clearance 0.3 Move details of geometry 0.5 the shortest distance between two elements In simlab the aspect ratio must be < 7

The parameter is very difficult to control, and not easy to get a good mesh quality for moldflow. Give us some proposal to control the parameter

the shortest distance between two elements normal < 0.3, small < 0.2, if some element < 0.2, it will be effect the analysis, or result accurately, or the analysis can’t be ongoing. Can it be done by automation? If I modify this element it is low efficiency.

We want to keep the part boundary (large margin), if everything is ok, at the last gasp, I find this area is very important for me, I need to release this structure, how can I do it easily?

I found this structure is merged, and is very important for me, I need to release this structure, how can I do it efficiency? Because I can’t release it or local mesh control when the element is done.

When we move the logo, we can assume this area it did ’t add logo. we want to replace the logo area shape with this surface.

When we optimize the element, the element node is not fit for the geometry. I hope the node is on the geometry.

When two face angle’s degree < 10, we think it can be integrated into one surface, but the fillet and flat surface can’t merge into one surface. Can it do by auto on the geometry? Not by merge faces and than remesh.

We want this fillet have two rows element, so I remesh local mesh, but I found the mesh is not fit the geometry.

We want this fillet have two rows element, how do I get this element easily and fast? The element seem very messy. Of course the element need to fit the geometry.

The element orientation is inconsistent, why? Because I import a catia data.

This structure is step by step, how do we get the mesh easily ?

Part with strips, how do we get the mesh to accurately reflect the thickness? We want to get a scraggly mesh.

If the part have these structures at the same time, how do we get the mesh to accurately reflect the thickness high-efficiency and also we need to control element number < ? Strips Steps fillets steps

If big part have a lot of fillet, and the fillet dimension is different, how do we get the mesh to accurately reflect the thickness easily? Special the fillet inside the part, and also we need to control the element number <

For join operation, if share surface is not very same( some surface have gap), how to do it, I want choose one part surface to nominate as share surface, how to do it quickly ?
