BEDS: Communication and Support 3 School Support Weekly ( ) The Basic Education Data Information System (BEDS) All schools/ Deadline: January 24, 2013 Academic Policy, Data/applications The annual online BEDS survey will open to schools on January 8, This year, the BEDS application has been streamlined and made easier to complete. When possible, teacher schedule data has been pre-populated from DOE source systems, and questions have been consolidated or eliminated. Additionally, the responses collected in this BEDS administration period will be used, along with data from ATS and STARS, to shorten this year’s BESIS survey and the Arts Survey. Network academic policy points should help their schools to prepare for the survey by  identifying a person to complete the survey; this person should be familiar with teacher schedules and with STARS;  help schools understand the new, shortened window for completing the BEDS survey; and  ensure that student and teacher schedules in STARS are accurate and up-to-date. Your cluster academic policy point will be providing more information in the coming weeks.

BEDS: HQ Reports 7 Reports have been consolidated and now appear under a new ‘reports’ tab. Only the 2011 and 2012 NCLB reports will be available here.

8 BEDS: Admin Page  Beginning this year, CFN data/applications specialists and HR directors may transfer personnel from one school’s survey to another.  Staff that do not appear on any survey may not be added.  Schools must contact their CFN to make these requests.  Schools may alternatively use the STARS ‘contact us’ feature to make these requests.
