Seminar Participation Just logging in or showing up is not enough to gain credit for our seminars. In future seminars I will be posting specific questions and will expect everyone to attempt an answer. I am not going to be strict with the spelling correctness in the seminars, however I expect that we all do our best. Errors will occur when we are communication in this live venue. Seminar participation and proper etiquette are expected. Side bar conversation should be reserved for outside our seminar hour. You may use the Student Cafe or other communication tools for non-course discussion.
Seminar Participation During our seminars, we will need to follow some basic ground rules. Please raise your hand when you have a question with // 1. If I type 3 dots at the end of a statement, please wait before responding as I have further data to post. 2. Please do not start side-bar conversations. The discussion will be restricted to the current unit's topic. 3. Don't worry about typos. They happen. Be as clear as you can. 4. Please do not chime in with "I agree" or "Nice comment" or with "What s/he said". These will be deleted from the archive during grading as they will not count towards quality contribution. 5. Enjoy our learning experience together!!!!!
Seminar Participation If you cannot or choose not to attend seminar, you will be expected to complete the current unit's quiz. There will be no discussion covering the quiz and no assistance. So before you chose to do the quiz over the seminar, be sure you are comfortable with the current unit's material and workload. If you choose to do both, you will receive the higher score of the two. The grade for seminar and quiz will not be combined. If you attend seminar, your grade for seminar will appear in your grade book under the FLA assignment. The quiz will only be available during the unit in which it covers, so be sure to complete it before Tuesday 11:59:59pm of that unit week.
Discussion Board Participation Discussion is the greatest learning tool and one of my favorite places to share, besides seminar, is the discussion board. Be aware of the expectations and the grading rubric for the discussion board, be sure to read the syllabus regarding participation. Be sure to post a substantive response to the discussion question and posting you make to your classmates.
Discussion Board Participation DB Weekly Rubric (how to get top scores) Responses are on topic, original, and contribute to the quality of the discussion. (typically 100+ words) Two or more thoughtful responses, per discussion question, to classmates that add value and advance the discussion
