Hotel Safety Tips Before Your Stay Consider the location: Is the hotel in an upscale neighborhood or a seedy commercial area? Is there a police station nearby? Would it be safe to walk around after dark? These factors could affect the likelihood of a break-in or assault during your stay.

Hotel Safety Tips Checking In Don’t accept a room on the ground floor if you can avoid it. Stay between the 3rd and 6th floors – where rooms are high enough to be difficult to break into, but they’re not so high as to be out of the reach of most fire engine ladders. Check the locks on the windows and doors in your room. Notify the front desk if they are not functioning.

Hotel Safety Tips During Your Stay Keep your door locked at all times. Never prop your door open, no matter how briefly. Never open your door to someone until you’re sure of their identity; use the peephole! Protect your valuables by using the hotel safe.
