Syllabus Bring the following to class every day: composition book, binder with paper, or spiral notebook pencil & correcting pen Calculator (I recommend purchasing a TI-84 Graphing Calculator – This is a worthwhile investment. You will use this calculator this year, throughout your high school career, and in college. It is ACT and SAT approved.) Grading 1. We will follow the grading scale outlined in the student handbook: % A 80-89% B 70-79% C 60-69%D 0-59% F Your grade will be calculated based on the following 20% assignments 60% assessments 20% semester exam

Syllabus 2. Daily work will be graded for completion. It is your responsibility to obtain and complete late work due to absence or carelessness. Extra copies will be available at the back of the classroom and on the class website: 3. Make-up tests must be scheduled by you and can only be completed during break, Colt Time, lunch, or advisory. It is your responsibility. 4. Due to the higher standards of an honors level course, re-do tests will not be permitted. 5. Check PowerSchool regularly to keep yourself aware of your grade at all times. See me if you have any questions or concerns about your grade.

In this class: Students… Think for themselves Track their thinking Solve contextual problems and develop efficient ways of calculating (traditional algorithm) The teacher… Asks questions to guide the thinking process Encourages discovery Provides direct instruction when necessary

If all you want the answer it will always be…

Potty Passes You will receive 5 tickets at the beginning of each semester They will be worth 5 assignment points at the end of the semester Write your name on each ticket NOW

Warm up assignment You will have a weekly warm up sheet. You will complete this task at the beginning of every math class. You will turn this in weekly for a grade. Extra credit assignments will often be on the back of the warm up sheet.
