+ Classroom Expectations and Procedures

+ Materials you will always need: 1). Notebook 2). Pen or Pencil

+ Items you should have because we will use them: 1). Ruler 2). Text Book - Students are to keep textbooks in their lockers 3). Things with which to draw 4). Scissors 5). Glue 6). Laptop

+ Technology Policy: 1). Only use your computer when instructed 2). No Ipod or phones 3). Break this rule and a report will be sent to the office.

+ Text Books: 1). Books are kept in the lockers 2). Books are the responsibility of the students 3). Any work assigned from the book is due next class, unless told otherwise

+ Classroom Expectations: 1). Make sure you have your materials when you come to class BE ON TIME 2). Homework can be either ed to me or handed in at the beginning of the next lesson. Late homework and projects are given to the next lesson to be handed in at a reduction of 20% of the total value of the grade - If the work isn’t in on the 2 nd day it’s a “0” 3). Students are to have respect for the instructor and their peers - No interrupting

+ Projects and Tests: 1). There will be a major project and test associated with every unit we cover 2). There will be projects of different types throughout the year: some on the computers, some oral reports, some model building Most Projects will be done individually The Biggest Group Projects we will do this year are: Olympic Bids, World Monument, Gladiators, and Siege Weapons They will be explained on more detail later on

+ Weekly Assignments:

+ Flag of the Week: The flag hung on the wall represents one country and the flag will change every week One person will be assigned to report on that country during the first lesson we have in that week. On the last lesson of the week the report is due. Once you have gone, you will not go until every other person has gone.

+ Information required for the Flag project: Continent on which it is Capital city Language Most common religion What the flag means and represents Population of the country How to say “hello” or “thank you” in that country’s language Currency (what kind of money does it use) Convert the currency again RMB Extra Credit: Food, Landmarks (2), National Symbol (animal), traditional clothing
