Vocabulary Terms Torah: the holy book of the Jewish faith

Covenant: an agreement with God.

Moses: The greatest prophet of Judaism Led the people out of Egypt Brought the 10 Commandments down from Mt. Sinai How does Moses make his tea? Turns out, Hebrews it!

Abraham: the father of the descendants of Judaism

Decalogue (Ten Commandments): Serves as the moral compass for Christians and Jews

Monotheism: a religion with one deity

Prophet: Certain people chosen by God to guide His people on the right path Reveal important information

Rabbi: Religious leaders of the Jewish faith

The Three Branches  Orthodox – most traditional of the three b ranches of Judaism. Practice the faith as it would have been practiced thousands of years ago  Conservative – “middle ground” in Judaism. Keep some traditions, change others.  Reform – most modern, most open to change

Talmud: Collection of writings by rabbis Explain the Torah
