How to Create an In-Text Citation ▪ After you have written your sentence or information you got from your source, you need to create an in-text citation. This is basically a reference point. The way it works is it gives the reader a “link” to which source the information came from. Here is an example using the citation from before. ▪ Abraham Lincoln became the United States' 16th President in 1861, issuing the Emancipation Proclamation that declared forever free those slaves within the Confederacy in 1863 (Abraham Lincoln).
Abraham Lincoln became the United States' 16th President in 1861, issuing the Emancipation Proclamation that declared forever free those slaves within the Confederacy in 1863 (Abraham Lincoln).
Example Citation ▪ "Abraham Lincoln." The White House. The White House, n.d. Web. 05 May ▪ Biography.com. N.p., n.d. Web. 05 May ▪ Burlingame, Michael. Abraham Lincoln: A Life.
