STaR Chart Defined: Collection of data used to measure School Technology and Readiness Used to help determine progress toward state and federal goals including Texas Long Rage Plan for Technology and federal No Child Left Behind Act,Title II, Part D Source: Photo from : nary.jpg

STaR Chart data is taken from: District reports Campus administrators Teacher self-assessments Photo from: pitch/

STaR Chart has 4 Sections: Teaching and Learning (TL) Educator Preparation & Development (EP) Leadership, Administration & Instructional Support (L) Infrastructure for Technology (INF)

Target Tech-Focus Rating 4 Advanced Tech-Focus Rating 3 Developing Tech-Focus Rating 2 Early Tech-Focus Rating 1 Ratings System for the STaR Chart

RISD-Celia Hays Results- Teaching & Learning TL2: Frequency/Design of Instructional Setting Using Digital Content: Celia Hays Elem. had minor improvement from Developing Level to Advanced Level due to teachers in district moving from “inspired classroom” technology training to implementation of skills.

TL5: Student Mastery of Technology Applications TEKS Celia Hays Elem. had minor improvement from Developing Level to Advanced Level due to students learning in technology saturated "inspired classrooms" as they change grade level. RISD-Celia Hays Results- Teaching & Learning

L2: Planning Celia Hays Elem. had minor improvement from the Developing Level to Advanced Level due to teachers that had mastered teaching in “inspired classrooms” and their desire to continue the technology saturation. RISD-Celia Hays Results- Teaching & Learning

L4: Communication and Collaboration Fluctuation between levels of Target Tech down to Advanced Tech due to new teachers & new employees who were unfamiliar with a technology saturated campus becoming overwhelmed.

RISD-Celia Hays Results- Infrastructure for Technology (INF) INF5: LAN/WAN Decrease from Target Tech to Advanced Level due to explosive unexpected growth in district, therefore slowing network availability.

Celia Hays Comprehensive Results

Conclusions Drawn from Data: RISD-Celia Hays currently ranks very well in the levels of STaR Chart readiness. Our school predominantly ranked in the Advanced Tech level of progress.

Recommendations for RISD in the area of Teaching and Learning: Continue to utilize the technology made available and immerse students in technology rich classrooms. Assure students and teachers reach a level of technology saturation and as growth of the district slows scores will continue to rise.

Recommendations for RISD in the area of Educator Preparation and Development: Current staff must be given adequate training time for technology. More training programs and classes should be made available for new staff as they are hired despite explosive growth.

Recommendations for RISD in the area of Leadership, Administration & Instructional Support: District must develop futuristic plan for teachers that have implemented past goals. When growth of district occurs, administration must continue to provide plans/goals for those beginning the journey to technology saturation.

Recommendations for RISD in the area of Infrastructure for Technology Support: District should provide adequate network availability and anticipate overloads due to growth. More resources should be devoted to maintaining connectivity and keeping networks operating even at maximum capacity.

Summary of Recommendations based on STaR Chart Data: District should develop new technology plans that meet the needs of both new and seasoned employees. District should anticipate growth and develop readiness plans for its infrastructure. District should continue its saturation of technology throughout its schools.
