Homework Expectations MondayTuesdayWednesdayThursdayFriday *Read & Respond *Math *Read & Respond *Math *No homework *Read & Respond *Math To be assigned as necessary Please sign your child’s agenda & reading log every night.

Reading goals for your 3 rd grader: Our reading instruction is individualized for your child. Our goal in working with him/her is to: 1. Grow in their comprehension and understanding of “just right” books 2. Sharpen their reading accuracy 3. Increase their reading fluency 4. Expand their vocabulary

Math goals for your 3 rd grader By the end of third grade, our goal is to help your child: 1.Build upon a basic mathematical foundation. 2. Our main focus will be on integrating problem solving and critical thinking skills throughout the math content.

What is intervention? Intervention is a daily practice that will be based on individual needs of each student. During this time, your child may visit other 3 rd grade classrooms. This time is used to reinforce or enrich certain skills that have been instructed. The purpose of intervention is to target your child’s need and individualize instruction in a way that will be most beneficial to his or her academic success.

Birthday Celebrations **Please let your teacher know at least a week ahead if you want to send treats for the class. Also, please be considerate of peanut/tree nut allergies. Texas state law now prohibits any outside treats from being served in the cafeteria. We very much want to continue to recognize or special birthday students. It is our goal to celebrate your child while minimizing classroom interruptions and the intake of sugary treats.

The Nutcracker Ballet: Playing at Texas Women’s University. Free admission. 2 nd Field Trip: TBA

We will celebrate the 80 th of school in 1980’s style. When: January 11th Why: To celebrate your children and all of the rad work they have done thus far! *** If you would like to volunteer please leave your contact information on the sign-up sheet by the door. Thank you! 80’s Day Celebration!

Our philosophy this year: We believe that all students have unique potential for learning and succeeding in an ever‐changing global society. We will support their social, emotional, and academic growth in a safe, respectful environment. In other words, teach like you mean it. Same as every other year.
