OUTREACH PLAN IDEAS Section/Branch Activities  Ask members to share the Report Card via social media on their personal network, especially LinkedIn and alumni community groups (YM groups can be especially helpful with this)  Make sure the Report Card is on all your Section and Branch websites in a prominent location and keep Report Card messages in your newsletters for a few months  Put “Tell Legislators” buttons on the websites so members can easily share the Report Card with state and federal leaders  Consider having Section leaders write op-eds or articles for technical journals in response to current events  Encourage members to visit with legislators (Report Card in hand) through scheduled office visits, ‘back home’ visits and/or town hall meetings  Present on the Report Card at a Section dinner meeting and invite local officials to attend  Participate in a State Legislative Day  Consider purchasing billboards or creating special Engineer’s Week displays  Get involved with Policy Institutes (check local Universities) Speaker Circuit Activities  Establish a statewide speakers circuit to have representatives available to speak to legislators, media, stakeholder groups and kids (STEM programs)  Create materials that are appropriate for formal and informal audiences  Train a new group of volunteers on the Report Card  Offer to hold lunch-and-learns for staffers of elected officials Legislative Activities  Establish an event series on infrastructure in conjunction with other stakeholders  Create a “Raise the Grades” Legislative Action Plan connecting the Report Card recommendations to steps legislators can take
