Music And Culture Florida State Standard: MU.2.H.2.1- Discuss how music is used for celebrations in American and other cultures.

Genres of music used around the world: Punjabi Folk Fuji Jazz

Punjabi Folk Highly rhythmic and very diverse. Vocals are an integral part. Instruments include dhol, tumbi, and ektara Used to celebrate birth, death, and important ceremony.

Fuji Popular style from Nigeria that is based on traditional muslim Yoruba music. Instrument used is sakara drum. Used to celebrate birth, marriages, and important life events.

One of North America’s oldest and most celebrated musical genres. Its unique expression draws from life experiences and human emotion. Is used for festival celebrations Jazz

Review Three of many genres of music include: Punjabi, fuji, and jazz. Punjabi is highly rhythmic, diverse and is used to celebrate birth, death, and important ceremony. Fuji is a popular style from Nigeria that is based on traditional muslim Yoruba music and is used to celebrate birth, marriages, and important life events. Jazz is one of North America’s oldest and most celebrated musical genres and is used for festival celebrations.
