Desktop Publishing Part 2 Lesson Overview Objectives Develop a understanding of the basic features of Adobe Photoshop including: Text formatting Opacity Brush Tools Vector and Clipping Mask Outcomes Task 1Create 2 Images using the Masking Effect. Task 2Pupils will evidence at least one image using the masking effect.

Desktop Publishing Part 2 Writing and Editing Text 2) Using the Text Tool write out the Text of your Favourite City. 3) Edit the text using the text properties panel. 1) Create a New Photoshop file and set an appropriate canvas size.

You can either copy from the internet or open an image and then copy and paste. Copy and paste images until the text is completely covered. Images can be rotated also using the free transform tool

Hide all layers apart from the image you are working on. Select layer and then click ADD VECTOR MASK Image layers hidden

Desktop Publishing Part 2 Brush Tool – Deleting Edges 7) Select the brush tool and select the black colour fill. 8) Adjust the size of the brush. 9) Delete around the edges of the image. Vector Masks will be created for all of the images. Images will blend together by softening the edges.

Desktop Publishing Part 2 Changing Opacity Slide the bar to the right so that the opacity is 100%. 11) Select all of the layers and change the opacity to 100% All images have 100% opacity

Desktop Publishing Part 2 Merging Layers All images layers have been merged into one layer. 12) Select all of the layers and right click the mouse to see menu options. 13) Select Merge Layers.

Desktop Publishing Part 2 Clipping Mask The clipping mask effect has now been applied to the Manchester Text. 14) Right click on the merged layer. 15) Select Create Clipping Mask.
