LDAP Performance on the CAS Network Jason Mehlman Senior Design III May 17, 2007

Overview Statement of Problem Project Description and Intended Use Deliverables Proof of Design Conclusion

Statement of Problem Network Design – No way to analyze current network configuration and topology – Unable to test impact on network of different scenarios and configurations

Project Description and Intended Use Simulated model of CAS network – OPNET IT Guru Used to study, analyze, and optimize directory services performance

Deliverables Complete model of current topology of CAS network Complete model of improved topology of CAS network – Network models and analysis data made available to UCIT and IT staff

Proof of Design What? How? Results

Conclusions Virtual model can be used by IT staff to test any future changes to the network Move LDAP traffic off of Admin 4 th floor – 32% decrease in link utilization 20Mbps link from Victory Parkway to Clifton is over-utilized – Needs to be upgraded to allow directory services across both campuses
